Melissa Crystal O'Neil, born on the 12th of July 1988[1,] is a Canadian performer and actress. O'Neil, the first Canadian female winner of Canadian Idol's 3rd season, won it in 2005. O'Neil is primarily known as an actress for her performances in the series Syfy as Two or RebeccaAs Two / Portia Lin, and on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama The Rookie. She was voted in the bottom three and two contestants were eliminated. Shocked by this, the judges urged viewers to vote for contestants such as Melissa, who clearly had the best vocal abilities. From that point on, O'Neil never fell back into the bottom three after delivering consistently praised performances, and judge Zack Werner declaring that she was "a threat to win the whole competition". On September 7, 2005 O'Neil made it into the final two spots of the competition, alongside Goudie. After many more spectacular performances the judge Werner famously said that the headlines in the following day's papers would be "The King, Kalan Porter has passed away, long live the Queen." O'Neil defeated Goudie during the grand finale results shows on September 14, 2005 . He went on to win the title of Canada's third Idol.
